Couzyn van Heuvelen is a Toronto based sculptor whose current body of work draws inspiration from a collection of found bird skulls. The bird skull is an example of an object from the natural world that holds great allure. These are the kinds of found relics that we are driven to meticulously preserve and display. We are fascinated with the idea of nature, but this body of work reveals our inability to resist the urge to capture, collect and reshape the natural world.
