Artist Statement:

My photographic direction, or exploration, is centralized in the area of constructed dilemmas and fabricated scenarios emphasizing both the internal and external struggle of the human condition. Focusing within the realm of ambiguity arising from specific gesture, gaze, and interaction with location, my work creates fictional narratives that display introverted moments of vulnerability and the exhaustion wrought by defeat.

My practice is influenced and reflects the boundaries between withholding and disclosing. The photographic process, in itself, depends on such a created space. It inherently captures that which was, and presents it as that which is. Within this transaction, from the actual to the photographic print, there is an undeniable change. This is the photographic dilemma – the fine line between truth and fiction. My interest in the medium is confirmed somewhere within this space, somewhere between subject and photographer, between actuality and expression. This in-between area is a stage for both willing and unwilling collaboration, and it is here that the give and take is negotiated.

I, as an artist, am interested in this negotiation.
